STUDIO POLICIES

PREPARATION EQUALS SUCCESS!

  • If you are going to be late, or need to cancel,  please call and let me know as soon as you do. (832)-955-2191. The late fee works both ways. After five minutes, it is $1/minute each minute you are late. If I start your appointment late, is is $1/minute off your retie immediately. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment may be cancelled.

  • If you are fifteen (15) or more minutes late without notifying me, I will consider your appointment cancelled. I will notify you if this is the case. You will not be able to book with me again.

  • Hair should be clean (within the last 48 hours), dry, and free of creams, oils,  and excessive scalp buildup.  DO NOT BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR UNLESS WE HAVE DISCUSSED IT PREVIOUSLY.  You may be asked to reschedule otherwise.

  • Please do not bring laptops or other work accoutrements to your appointments. It slows your appointment time down drastically. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

  • Masks are optional unless circumstances dictate otherwise. If you suspect you are sick with a contagious illness, please reschedule.

  • If you show up to an appointment symptomatic of any illness, you will be asked to reschedule.

  • In-Person Consultations are required for any Interlocking Service. They require a non-refundable $100. This goes toward your deposit (and installation fee). Travel fees may apply.

  • If, following your consultation, you decide to book an installation, you will need to deposit $150. This deposit will go towards your installation. Travel fees are separate.

  • If preparing for consultation, please remember that this is also your time to ask questions-write them down beforehand to maximize your time.

  • Adult guests are allowed to come, but they are not allowed to watch the process if I am installing Sisterlocks. Other services can be observed or filmed.

  • Up to two children are allowed, but if they disturb/break items, create messes, or interrupt frequently, I reserve the right to ask that they not return for subsequent appointments (unless I am traveling to you).

The consultation session lasts for 2 hours 30 minutes usually. This is your opportunity to ask all of your questions, as well as learn what to expect at the start of your loc journey and into the future. What will take place?

I will create a client profile for you that will remain in my records. I will contain basic identifying information as well as pertinent information about your hair. As we progress, I will take a photo with each retie to document any issues and determine your growth! This will be kept digitally and you will be given access to view it also.

I will measure your hair and determine an average length.

I will determine an installation price. You will be asked to place a $150 deposit at the end of consultation  should you decide to book the installation. This does not include your $100 consultation fee.

I may moisten and observe several strands of your hair, and I will make a determination about your hair’s curl pattern, pliablility, and cuticle that will affect which rotation pattern will be best for you.

I will examine your scalp for any issues (i.e thinning, or dandruff) and I will also examine your hair to determine whether you have breakage, heat damage, etc. It may be necessary to correct certain issues before you can begin your loc journey.

I will discuss with you how to keep your hair and scalp happy as well as maintain the integrity of your locs as we go along.

I will install 4-12 sample locs that will allow you to experience the process and get a sense of what your hair will be like, locked.

I will answer any questions you may have.

what happens at a
consultation?

Is there anyone who, planning to build a new house, doesn't first sit down and figure the cost so you'll know if you can complete it?
